About
The Society offers funding to AMS affiliate groups throughout the year. The Chapter Activities Fund and Study Group Activities Fund provide partial support for chapter and study group activities and programs twice per year. AMS affiliates cannot receive funding more than once in a twelve-month period.
The Early Music Program Fund supports educational programs that build, strengthen, and sustain the research skills needed to knowledgeably study, teach, perform, and illuminate music and musical cultures in the period before c. 1600. Applications are open to AMS committees, chapters, and study groups.
The Guest Speaker Fund is a special fund established to provide financial support to AMS committees and study groups that invite speakers from outside the field of musicology to participate in the AMS Annual Meeting.
Affiliate Grants
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
No. Regular members may submit affiliate grant proposals, but must have the written authorization of that chapter or study group leader(s) to submit the application.
Probably not. The AMS occasionally extends application deadlines to ensure a large enough applicant pool, but this is typically done 2-3 weeks before the deadline. We almost never extend application deadlines for individual applicants. So, plan ahead and get your materials in on time.
Every AMS affiliate has a financial account maintained by and with the AMS office to suport the activities of that chapter or study group. When AMS grants are awarded, funds are directly deposited to this account. Affiliate leaders may request disbursements by submitting a Payment Request form.
