AMS Welcomes Grant Woods as Program Assistant

The AMS is pleased to announce that Grant Woods has been hired as a part-time Program Assistant. He will join the office to support annual meeting organizing and other programs aimed at expanding our understanding of music and sound through research, teaching, learning, and advocacy.

Grant Woods is a Ph.D. student in historical musicology at Columbia University, where his research focuses on the role of the British Empire in constructions of British musical identities at the turn of the twentieth century. Originally from Indianapolis, Indiana, he earned a Bachelor’s of Musical Arts from DePauw University, where he graduated summa cum laude with minors in history and European studies. His other research interests include the first British folk revival, Orientalism/exoticism, film music, propaganda, and music and cultural memory. In his spare time, Grant is a saxophonist, amateur folk guitarist, and avid runner.
