New Program Supports International Attendees

The American Musicological Society (AMS) is pleased to announce that, beginning this year and during years when the annual meeting is held online, the society will award 100 Annual Meeting Registration Waivers to international attendees from countries with a per-capita Gross Domestic Product (GDP) below $41,000.  These grants are intended to support annual meeting attendance by individuals for whom a U.S. dollar-denominated registration fee may present an unduly high financial barrier given the prevailing wages and prices in their home countries.

Recipients will receive full registration waivers for the annual meeting registration fee. The 2026 AMS Annual Meeting will be held online 14–15 November and 19–20 November 2026.

To be eligible for an Annual Meeting Registration Waivers, applicants must currently reside in a country with a per-capita GDP below $41,000, as determined by the most recent international economic data published by the World Bank (WB). To determine whether your country is eligible, please consult the list of eligible countries on the Annual Meeting Registration Waivers program page.

Applicants from eligible countries who are accepted to present at the annual meeting will automatically receive an Annual Meeting Registration Waiver. Remaining waivers will be awarded by lottery to eligible applicants. Applicants do not need to be scheduled to present at the annual meeting to be eligible. For more details, visit the program page.

The application form for Annual Meeting Registration Waivers will become available in early May.
