2026 Public Outreach Grants Awarded
The American Musicological Society (AMS) is pleased to announce the inaugural recipients of the Society’s new Public Outreach Grants. Public Outreach Grants provide funding to members of the Coalition of Music Organizations for educational, outreach, and informational programming targeting a broad public audience. The goal of this program is to support and incentivize publicly-oriented music programming that informs and engages. Congratulations to the recipients!

Dvořák American Heritage Association
Project: Dvořák Chamber Music Survey Series and Lecture: Dvořák at America’s 250th
A concert of Dvořák’s chamber music by the Sullivan Quartet and an associated lecture will take place in New York and be live-streamed on 18 October 2026. This event addresses Dvořák’s time in the United States and his impact on American music at the 250th anniversary of the nation’s founding. It will further engage with both Dvořák’s music written in the United States and the legacy of his pronouncements on American music with a diverse audience at a time when his ideas are once again relevant to how America hears itself as a society.

Handbell Musicians of America
Project: Handbell Musicians of America Pre-Concert Lecture/Demonstrations
Handbell Musicians of America (HMA) will offer a lecture/demonstration series in summer 2026 on the history of the English handbell and its evolving presence in repertoire and performance in the United States. Led by music educators with significant experience with handbells, these events will be free and open to the public and presented prior to eight concerts at HMA’s National Seminar at the Sharonville Convention Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Hugo Kauder Society
Project: Hugo Kauder Chamber Music Recording and Performance
In partnership with The Orchestra Now (TON) at Bard College, the Hugo Kauder Society will present the premieres of Hugo Kauder’s 4th Symphony (1956), and Viola Concerto (1932), as well as a newly restored sextet (1914/5). Prominent soloist Luosha Fang and maestro Leon Botstein will lead the recordings and performances. A performance at the Fisher Center at Bard College has been scheduled for 27 March 2027. Part of the project are recording sessions for a CD to be published at Toccata Classics.

International Clarinet Association
Project: Guinness World Record Attempt – World’s Largest Clarinet Ensemble
The International Clarinet Association is planning a Guinness World Record attempt for the world’s largest clarinet ensemble at its annual ClarinetFest® conference to be held 7–11 July 2027 in Salt Lake City, Utah. This event intends to bring people across many different cultures and backgrounds together in a single shared purpose that surpasses boundaries of ethnicity, nationality and language.
