About
The H. Colin Slim Award honors each year a musicological article of exceptional merit by a scholar who is beyond the early stages of their career. “Beyond the early stages” is here defined as more than twelve years beyond completion of the PhD degree.
The award is named for H. Colin Slim (1929–2019), who was one of the leading music scholars of his generation. A former President of the AMS, Colin Slim was an indefatigable researcher, an exemplary colleague, a dedicated teacher, and a talented pianist and conductor. He died on October 22, 2019, at the age of 90, in Berkeley, California. A noted scholar of Stravinsky and author of Stravinsky in the Americas: Transatlantic Tours and Domestic Excursions from Wartime Los Angeles (1925-1945), Slim also published important editions of operas by Rossini and Allessandro Scarlatti.
