About
The Judy Tsou Critical Race Studies Award honors each year one outstanding musicological work in the field of critical race and/or critical ethnic studies. Works eligible for the award include published articles, books, editions, or other scholarly entities that best exemplify the highest qualities of originality, interpretation, theory, and communication in this area.
The award is named in honor of former AMS Vice President Judy Tsou, Emeritus Music Librarian at the University of Washington and Affiliate Professor of Music History, and an expert on the intersection of race and gender in music, particularly operas.
