Siovahn A. Walker Named Interim Executive Director
Announcement from Suzanne Cusick: New Interim Executive Director

21 October 2019

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

It gives me great pleasure to announce that Dr. Siovahn A. Walker will serve as Interim Executive Director of the AMS, beginning October 28, 2019.

Siovahn (B.A., Brown, 1996; PhD. Stanford, 2008, in medieval history; M.P.A. Columbia, 2018) has substantial experience in fundraising, financial management, team-building, marketing, event planning, and communications. She served as executive director of the Council for European Studies from 2010-15, and as director of outreach at the Modern Language Association from 2015 until July 2019. Prior to taking the position at the CES, she had been a program officer and director of communications for the Social Science Research Council (SSRC) and an administrator of the Cornell Weill Medical College’s Institute for the History of Psychiatry.

Siovahn also has a deep love of music and an abiding interest in the history of music. She sang, played guitar, and composed folk and instrumental music throughout college and graduate school; and these days continues to keep her hand in by playing a little viola fiddle when she can.

Siovahn will be present at our Annual Meeting in Boston and in the AMS office thereafter. Please join me in welcoming her to the AMS. She can be reached at: swalker -at-

With best wishes,

Suzanne G Cusick
