AMS-L Electronic Discussion List

AMS-L Update Fall 2018:

AMS-L was scheduled to be discontinued on October 31, 2018, with users transitioning to an alternative provided at Humanities Commons. The decision to discontinue AMS-L was made in November 2017 by the Board of Directors, who sought to provide the Society's members with a more flexible and technologically up-to-date forum for discussion and intellectual exchange.

Because a number of people expressed distress at the loss of AMS-L, the Board of Directors revisited that decision at its meeting in early November 2018. The Board has now agreed that the best way forward is to leave in place a discussion list similar to AMS-L, one that uses the same distribution service (Listserv, kindly provided by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln). The new iteration will be renamed "Musicology-L"; its management will devolve away from direct AMS supervision, thanks to the many volunteers who have stepped up. We expect the transition to be seamless.

Those wishing to participate in Musicology-L are asked to submit a short form (name and email) to reconfirm their desire to participate. (The form also includes a place to indicate willingness to assist in administering Musicology-L.)

AMS-L will continue normally until the transition day, scheduled for 3 January 2019.

Click here to complete the form and confirm your subscription to AMS-L’s continuation, Musicology-L, now.

Additional information regarding the transition will be provided later in December.

Thank you in advance for assisting as the Society makes this transition.
