Canvas for Beto O’Rourke

Dear Friends,

For those of you attending AMS we wanted to share some information about volunteering for Beto

O’Rourke. Our national meetings are often just before or just after an election and this might be an opportunity for some to participate one of the most contentious and important midterm elections.  We know many of our colleagues who live in swing states and areas with hard elections have been doing this work at home.  Thanks to all who have done this.

We want to encourage those AMS attendees who feel they can to devote some of their time spent in Texas on the weekend before the midterm election to volunteer for the campaign to elect Beto O’Rourke to the United States Senate. While Texas is commonly believed to be a majority Republican state, in fact it has one of the lowest voter turnout records in the country. The campaign for O’Rourke is launching a large Get Out the Vote campaign in this final week, targeting 750,000 eligible voters who are demographically expected to support O’Rourke over his opponent Ted Cruz.

Signing up to canvas door to door in San Antonio is extremely easy. Clicking on the link below will bring you to an interactive map where you can find pop up campaign offices located very close to the conference hotel. Volunteers in the campaign are very eager to receive our support, which involves signing up for a 3 hour spot. For those with the means to travel 10 – 20 minutes from downtown, the campaign asks that volunteers sign up at two specific locations on the east side: Denver Heights (1701 S. Hackberry St San Antonio TX 78210) and Jefferson Heights (2711 Martin Luther King Dr San Antonio 78220), in that order.  These are the pop-ups where people will be able to make the biggest impact.
