Georgia Highlands College (Rome, GA)
March 20-21, 2020

https://www.south-central-ams.org

Deadline for Submissions: January 20, 2020

The AMS-SC Chapter is pleased to announce its Spring 2020 meeting (March 20-21, 2020) at Georgia Highlands College’s Heritage Hall in Rome, GA. AMS-SC invites submissions for papers, posters, panel discussions, and performances from all areas of music research.

This year, we particularly encourage submissions that engage with issues related to public musicology (e.g., public intellectualism, social activism, inclusive vs. exclusive practices, accessibility) as well as music research that is presented or shared in a publicly accessible manner. Proposals should be sent to the Program Committee Chair, Samantha Ryan Barnsfather (sbarnsfather@bellarmine.edu) by January 20, 2020 (11:59 pm EDT). Receipt of your submission will be acknowledged via an email reply.

For a proposal submitted by a student, please have an advisor or other faculty member send a separate email message to the Program Committee Chair to verify student status. Students from the AMS-SC whose abstracts are selected by the program committee will be eligible to compete in the Rey M. Longyear Student Paper Competition.

Papers will be limited to twenty minutes with an additional ten minutes allotted for questions and discussion. Proposals should include an abstract of no more than 350 words and clearly indicate the scope of research, the research methods employed, and the presenter’s conclusions. Proposals should consist of a Microsoft Word or PDF file that includes no personally identifying information but only the presentation’s title, abstract, and format (paper, panel, poster, lecture recital, etc.). Please attach the proposal to an email that gives the presenter's full contact information, presentation title, any A/V requirements, and a short bio (100 words or less). Panel proposals should include an abstract describing the scope of the panel in addition to individual abstracts for each of the panel’s components. Please send all information requested (the last name of the author being the file name) to the Program Committee Chair with the e-mail subject “AMS-SC 2020.”

More information is available on the chapter’s website.
